Lymantriidae family (Tussock moths) are caterpillars often having tufts and lashes of red, yellow, and black, often warning of danger. Hairs of tussock moth caterpillars may cause allergic responses. All have an eversible (sometimes brightly colored) defensive glands in about the middle or at the end of the body. The caterpillars eat many shrubs and trees.
